OUR JOURNEY & INSPIRATION

Welcome to Third Eye Gypsy, where heart and soul emerge from color and hot glass. My glass journey began 20 years ago from humble beginnings on a hot head torch with a  1lb MAPP gas cylinder to a beautiful Carlisle Mini CC surface mix torch. Each glass bead begins from a single colored rod and is transformed into an exquisite work of wearable art. The flame has a way of melting the entire world away into a flow state where the only thing that exists in that moment is my creation and me. Working with fire always creates a deeply meditative state. I begin my session with some inspired ideas for designs. Next, I choose my color palette and lay out my rods, tools, frits, silver leaf, bead presses, and glass stamps. As I create my beads, oftentimes I will get inspiration for a new design to try next. I will even discover better ways to execute my designs, which I jot down in a notebook that sits at my table. Glass is an incredible teacher. I feel like I learn something new every time I sit down at the torch.

I draw my inspiration from the beautiful things I see in the world around me. I also get super inspired just going through old photos of my work. I will revisit older designs and try a new spin on an old classic. I find it hard to settle on one specific style, so I create a unique synthesis of hippie, bohemian, primitive, and contemporary styles. My main focus is handmade flame-worked glass beads, art glass jewelry, and glass dread beads. When I'm not working in glass, I enjoy creating in other mediums like mixed-media art, bleach dyed clothing with heat transfer vinyl, and cooking healthy, delicious, intricately flavored food and desserts.
