Vortex flowers have been one of my most favorite "happy little accidents". I first discovered this design when I was trying to make some hollow beads. I was heating the glass of my bead, and to my surprise, the glass had different plans for its final shape.

Here is the story of where "Vortex Flower" handmade lampwork glass flower beads originated.

Here were the very first Vortex Flower pendants from 2009 back when my business name was "Genea Beads"! It's crazy to see where they started and how the designs have changed over the years.

The pendants were worn on a fairy silk cording that could be tied into a short choker as well as a long necklace.

Here you can see the necklace design worn long.

Here is the "Vortex Flower Garden" necklace, probably one of the most beautiful and intricate Vortex Flower designs I have EVER created! This necklace took me 3 long weeks of assembly and problem-solving to create the finished design. As you can see, it was well worth all of the time and energy it took to create this truly unique statement macrame dangle necklace.

This photo gives a better idea of just how many different things were going on in the construction.

The efforts were well worth it because the "Vortex Flower Garden" necklace featured in the Bead & Button February 2011 issue! It was such an honor to be published in such a prestigious magazine!

There she is in all her glory! I guess I had anticipated that the photographer would photograph the necklace lying flat with a view into the center of the flower beads so you could really see all of the details. I was still super flattered to have been published :D

And now for the part you've all been waiting for!

Who doesn't want to envision how these handmade lampwork glass flower earrings will look worn so here's a little photo of me modeling the earrings and necklace together. But Genea you look so serious and forlorn, yes, but it looks better in photos if my face isn't all crinkled up at the eyes and mouth from smiling. Trust me, I tried, and this looked more aesthetically pleasing even though I look unhappy to be in the photo :P

The entire creating process of these earrings designs is such a delight. I have been collecting beads since I was 12 (now 46((for a few more days!)) so I have 3 full to the brim bead boxes with pressed Czech glass leaf and flower beads. Every design allows me to put different combinations of all of my best beads for the finished design!

But can we take a moment to just digest the hue of this purple with all of the sparkling 2xab crystals and Czech flower beads?! I mean I can taste the colors from here. Also, shout out to my gorgeous Monstera for being the beautiful backdrop for these whimsical glass art earrings!

You know I still had to include at least one photo on white, so the colors of the earrings stand out from the background. Also, who doesn't love seeing the dangle centers pour out from the inside of the flowers. This is probably one of my favorite views of the earrings.

This is my very favorite pair out of all of the earrings in this drop along with my favorite photo! The ruffle on this right flower facing the camera is chefs kiss!

Honestly, this whole collection is full of so much whimsy and color, you really can't go wrong!

Which one is your favorite? I hope you all love the Vortex Flowers as much as I love making them. People always stop me when I'm out to tell me how much they love my earrings. It's such a great feeling to have people enjoy your art, especially in the wild :D
