Welcome Home! Full circle back to art.

Updated: Jan 26

I'm so excited you are here reading this right now! If you have been following me for years or if its your first time finding me I can't wait to share my creative art journey with you!

Welcome to our new home on the internet! I have been wanting to have a legit website again for years! It's finally time! If you didn't know I have been melting glass for 20 years. I went through a divorce in 2015 so I had to get a regular job and had been in and out of other jobs going back to my art when I could.

"Minds Eye" mixed-media 12x12 canvas. Still one of my most favorite mixed-media pieces ever!

I took a little detour into mixed-media for awhile thinking that maybe my glass career was completely over. I contemplated selling my torch and glass and giving up.

I met a woman on Fb that helped me work on my marketing stuff and spent several months building up my social media to become relevant online again. After all that work I still saw no uptick in sales trying to sell my flame-worked glass beads, and jewelry in the beading community.

I met an influencer named Morgin Riley that I made a dread bead for and she put me back on the map again saving my glass career and steering it in another direction. I am super grateful for our paths crossing and her getting my artwork to new eyes.

I moved into my first ever apartment in the Midtown area of Kansas City, Missouri. My little slice of heaven studio of 500sq feet. One of the smallest spaces I have ever lived in.

My sunflower dread bead with my newest sunflower flower of life dread bead. This will go on to be my most popular design in my entire glass career.

2020 happened and the pandemic brought a run of customers abundantly supporting my work. People were off work and getting paid to stay home. Unfortunately I was working for a liquor store that was deemed an "essential business". So when I wasn't at work I spent my time making beads. I would have late night sessions making beads after my night shift and over my days off. I would then list my beads on Instagram before my 2:00pm shift and have my beads sell while I was working at my other job. As time went on they decided to cut my hours back to 1 day a week so I spent my other days working for myself while having one stable day of regular pay at a job I hated.

The world finally opened back up and Michael and I went to Summer Camp in September of 2021. When we came back home I was exhausted from what I thought was just fatigue from the festival, but turned out to be the first time I got covid. They took me off the mf schedule at the liquor store in between the time I went to Summer Camp and got back. So I was just waiting for my new job to start at the dispensary.

The day I got offered my job in the cannabis industry 7-23-21. This is actually a fire maple leaf I found outside of the building where I got fingerprinted for my new job. I wouldn't actually start my first day until September 16, 2021

In this time period I got hired for a job in the cannabis industry, but was waiting for the location I was set to work at open. My first day was September 16, 2021. I have been in the cannabis industry ever since.

3 of my Tipper inspired eye necklaces that are currently for sale in the shop.

I went to Red Rocks with my friend Eryn to see Tipper for his final show before retirement. I wanted to make some Tipper inspired designs to take with me to trade or sell at the show. It felt really good to be creating and taking photos again.

I decided on my trip to see Tipper at Red Rocks that I wanted to get back into steadily making my lampwork bead jewelry. It took me awhile to finally get to creating my new website because I had been dealing with some health issues, then the holidays, and just the cold and slow times of winter setting in.

I am so happy to say that things are finally moving forward as I get the site built and will FINALLY have a new home for all of my glass art!

Thank you for being on this art journey coming back home!

Love, light, and highest vibrations,

Genea
